The first thing that you must do is to see to it that you use an “SSL certificate”, also known as Secure Sockets Layer certificate. As early as 2014, Google has already announced that secure websites or those with “HTTPS” are given more preference than those that are classified as unsecured.

In order to secure your site, all you must do is install an SSL certificate. It is crucial to do this right after creating your website. Do not wait too long before you work on this aspect.

Another thing that you need to consider is to see to it that your site is highly responsive.

It must not only function well when viewed using a desktop computer or laptop. At the same time, it should also be navigated easily using a mobile phone.

Remember that having a responsive website means your site is going to rank well on search engine result pages.

3. Create a Sitemap

Some website owners forget to include a sitemap because they think it is no longer necessary. This is actually a wrong connotation.

Remember that you must have an XML sitemap as it will help search engines, such as Google, to understand your site.

Some platforms automatically generate an XML sitemap, so you do not need to set them up manually. For those that do not have this feature, you can use a sitemap generator.
